20-year-old Chinese RPG series!
New action and RPG games have been making waves in the industry, and now UP Software has just revealed the first trailer of Sword and Fairy 4 Remake, along with the gameplay as well.
After watching the trailer, many fans and gamers immediately labelled it as a Clair Obscur Expedition 33 clone. Let’s check out more details in this article.
Sword and Fairy 4 Remake trailer breakdown
UP Software’s Bilibili trailer showcases a turn-based system, precise parries, and stylish animations mirroring Sandfall Interactive’s Expedition 33.
Even though the story is original, a remake of an old Sword and Fairy 4 game, which was released in 2007, there are many things that look similar to Expedition 33.
UI elements, enemy designs, and cinematic shots feel lifted, and many animations look pretty similar to Sandfall Interactive’s game.
There are also positives to it, as many of the fans and Western gamers are now pretty excited for this game. Everyone loves Expedition 33 and a chance to play a similar game like this, who won’t be excited?

Conclusion
Sandfall Interactive’s first game, Clair Obscur Expedition 33, sold more than 5 million copies, almost swept the Game Awards, won Game of the Year and cemented itself as one of the best games in the RPG genre.
It’s no surprise that many developers will get inspired, just like how the developers of Sandfall were big fans of Final Fantasy and other Souls games.
However, many fans also fear that many studios might try to repeat the same formula instead of using creativity. Today’s scenario, the market is already saturated with many soul games that feel almost the same. Fans don’t want the same thing for the RPG genre, where every game is like Expedition 33.
