Bethesda’s next major release, The Elder Scrolls 6, was first announced in 2018 and till now, we have only received bits and pieces of updates on the game. Once again, Todd Howard has provided some updates on the game and how the development is going.

Development progress for The Elder Scrolls 6
Howard talked about the premature revealing of the game, admitting it was not the best idea to reveal the game several years before the release.
Although his favorite tactic is to release a preview of a game that is near release, the quote implied to fans that Bethesda was relentless in large-scale single-player RPGs.
Currently, the development progress of the game is steady. The team has passed a major internal milestone and most of the studio is working full-time on the project.
For now, the game is still a long way from release, but he also revealed that the game is playable internally and shaping up quite well.

Return to classic Elder Scrolls design
One of the best takeaways from this update is that Bethesda’s renewed focus is on its traditional RPG structure.
Howard revealed that The Elder Scrolls 6 will lean into “Classic Style” that defined the franchise. Fans can easily expect Skyrim and Oblivion familiar emphasizes on deep role-playing system, immersive world-building and expansive exploration.
The game will run on Creation Engine 3, which is the next evolution of Bethesda’s in-house technology. After upgrading Creation Engine 2 for Starfield, the team proceeded to improve the engine’s visuals, world systems, and environmental detail.
Howard revealed that this technology allows richer visual fidelity and more detailed environments, especially in close-up scenes.
Release window
When asked about the release window, Howard jokingly responded, “Not this week.” For now, there is no official release window for The Elder Scrolls 6; however, the game is expected to release on Xbox Series X/S and PC. There is also a good chance that it will arrive on PS5.
