The cope is real!

Just when you thought it can’t get any worse, Ubisoft always delivers something that makes every gamer unhappy and angry. Here is the latest take from them: “Consumers are playing fewer games.”

Ubisoft’s United Kingdom recently wrote and announced a lengthy breakdown about the future development of the firm. This is all related to single-player titles, subscriptions and live service games. Let’s check out more details in this article.

What does Ubisoft think?

The report was filed on November 13, 2025 and was first spotted by RPS. The company is not happy with how the trends are going, which is also impacting the sales of their games.

The traditional ‘full game’ model of selling a single £50 – £60 game to a consumer as a one-time purchase continues to become less ubiquitous, with multi game subscription services, long running games-as-a-service titles, free-to-play games, and cloud streaming offerings all providing new and attractive ways for consumers to access gaming content.

Consumers are playing fewer games, playing them for longer, and as a result, outside of a few notable exceptions, many new games are struggling to stand out and achieve the sales they may once have had, while the market is more volatile and the potential for any specific title less predictable as a result.

Because of this, they will see the failure of the revenues in the upcoming months. They also postponed the release of their latest half-year earnings report while requesting that European exchange Euronext halt trading of Ubisoft shares and bonds.

Final Thoughts

There are some points that I agree with, which are related to free-to-play games and live-service multiplayer games.

However, those are really good quality games that keep the player base interested in playing and grinding them every day. We have seen too many projects fail in this department as well.

Apart from this, Ubisoft is just coping because the gamers are not buying or playing their games like they used to before.

Instead of blaming, I think they should start thinking and planning on how they can make good games, like they used to in the past.
