Most anticipated esports event of the year

The Esports Federation of India is organizing the inaugural Waves Esports Championship 2025 (WESC), whose qualifiers will begin in September 2024. The finals will take place in New Delhi in February 2025.

This event will feature some of the popular games like eFootball, BGMI and WCC in single and team-based competitions. Let’s check out more details about it in this article.

Waves Esports Championship 2025

The World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES), co-hosted by the Esports Federation of India and supported by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), is set to create waves during this year’s event.

The Waves Esports Championship 2025 event will be gender-inclusive and the Championship will be divided into different phases. The Esports Federation of India has always played a major role when it comes to Esports in India.

They had a huge hand and role in the Asian Games 2018, 2022 and Commonwealth Esports Championship 2022, where India won the bronze medals and was placed fifth for League of Legends.

President of EFOI thoughts on Esports

According to Eventfaqs, Vinod Tiwari who is the president of the Esports Federation of India said:

“India’s esports scene is rapidly evolving, and initiatives like the WAVES Summit are crucial in driving its growth. By bringing together top talent, industry stakeholders, and government support, we aim to showcase the potential of Indian esports on a global stage. Waves Esports Championship 2025 is not just about winning; it’s about nurturing a culture of excellence, content creation and innovation in esports.”

Also, Lokesh Suji, Director of ESFI & VP-Asian Esports Federation said:

“The logo embodies the true spirit of our community, with our choice of Ocean Blue color reflecting trust, inspiration, imagination, confidence, reliability, freedom, and faith. This logo aims to inspire today’s youth to embrace the wave of esports, creating a tide of change that will empower future generations to lead the industry. The WESC 2025 is more than just a tournament; it is a movement to elevate esports in India, fostering a spirit of competitiveness, community and a ‘Nation First’ mindset. On behalf of our community, I would like to once again express our deepest gratitude and thanks to our visionary Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and Hon’ble MoS MIB Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji for their support and initiative.”
