3 million sales and 98% positive reviews

The breakout open-world crime simulator, Schedule 1, where you can be a drug lord, has been removed from Steam in Australia.

Now, this is a temporary removal due to a classification issue, as announced by developer TVGS on May 13, 2025. Let’s check out more details in this article.

Why was Schedule 1 removed?

The game developer, Tyler, explained in his post on X, “Schedule 1 is hidden on Steam [in Australia]. Don’t worry, the game hasn’t been banned, but it turns out all games sold in Australia need to receive a classification/age rating.”

Tyler was surprised by the restriction because he had assumed it just related to console and physical releases.

The Australian Classification Board requires ratings for all games, and Schedule 1’s unrated status led to its removal.

Tyler has contacted the board and promises a fix “ASAP,” which may be within days, according to a Steam forum post.

The solo developer Tyler, has worked pretty well till now with his game, which has taken the gaming world by storm.

This indie game has over 459,000 peak concurrent players and a 98% positive rating from 174,000 Steam reviews.

Currently, the game is evolving with all the updates and it will get more amazing in the future.

Australia’s strict classification history

Australia’s Classification Board has a very strict track record of pulling games like Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and Disco Elysium for drug-related or violent content.

Many games have made it back but they returned with R18+ rating. The drug-centric subject of Schedule 1 may draw criticism, but Tyler’s confidence indicates an R18+ rating, allowing for no content revisions.

As Tyler has said that he is already applying for classification and the game will soon be available for the Australian fans.
