American Nightmare has a problem!

The former WWE Undisputed Universal Champion, Cody Rhodes, recently shared his problem with Mario Party’s chaotic gameplay.

This was addressed at the grand opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida.

Rhodes, known for his spectacular rise in WWE, didn’t mince words when he discussed how Party rewards luck over competence, comparing parallels to Mario Kart.

Rhodes’ Mario Party rant

At the Super Nintendo World opening, Rhodes said that Party is a “complete work” and criticized how the game rewards less skilled or overly friendly players.

“You do everything strategy-wise, and at the end, they’re like, ‘Ehh, we gave this person three stars because they had friends.’ Come on!” he exclaimed.

The game’s random star distributions and chance-based mechanisms, such as additional stars for “most spaces moved” or “most coins collected,” have the potential to flip the leaderboard, infuriating strategic gamers.

He also compared Mario Party with Mario Kart, praising the Nintendo 64 version for providing more fairer experience.

He criticized modern Mario Kart’s Blue Shell, which might punish skilled players by attacking the leader. “Your lack of skill is frequently rewarded,” he remarked, claiming that the item undermines competitive balance.

While Mario Kart 64 contains its own craziness (such as Lightning Bolts), Rhodes believes its simplicity makes it less punitive for experienced racers.

Who is Cody Rhodes?

Cody Rhodes, nicknamed “The American Nightmare,” is one of WWE’s biggest stars in 2025.

After his return to WWE in 2022, his popularity soared immensely and he won the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40, defeating Roman Reigns.

This main event of WrestleMania can easily be said to be one of the greatest main events of all time. This was Wrestling’s Avengers: Endgame.

Beyond Wrestling, Rhodes is also a passionate gamer and loves games like The Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear Solid and more.
