Charley Hoffman, born in San Diego in 1976, California, is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He won the California state high school championship in 1994 and 1995, becoming the first two-time winner.
Hoffman started his career in 2000, but struggled in his first year on the Buy.com Tour, making only four of 19 cuts. He had a better year in 2001, making 12 of 23 cuts and finishing tied for 5th at the Madeira Island Open and 12th at the Qatar Masters.
The American has nine professional wins, including his last victory at the 2016 Valero Texas Open. He has won 4 PGA Tour events in his career. Hoffman currently leads the Charles Schwab Challenge 2024 with a 5-under 65 in the first round, a one-shot lead over five other players.
Charley Hoffman’s past wins
Charley Hoffman has won 9 professional tournaments since turning professional in 2000, including 4 PGA Tour events, 1 Korn Ferry Tour tournament, and 4 other professional golf series events.
His first victory came in 2002 at the Legend Trail & Wildlife Gateway Tour event, followed by three other Gateway Tour events in 2004. Hoffman won the Permian Basin Charity Golf Classic on the Nationwide Tour in 2004, earning his PGA Tour card for the 2006 season.
His first PGA Tour victory was in 2007 at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic, where he defeated John Rollins in a playoff. He won his next PGA Tour event in 2010 at the Deutsche Bank Championship, a FedEx Cup playoff event.
Hoffman’s other PGA Tour victories include the 2014 OHL Classic in Mayakoba and the 2016 Valero Texas Open. Despite struggling in the 2022-23 PGA Tour season, he bounced back in 2024 with a runner-up finish at the WM Phoenix Open. In his career, Hoffman has 60 top-10 finishes, 4 wins, and earned $34,782,314 in earnings.
