Xander Schauffele, the frontrunner at the PGA Championship 2024, is set to tee alongside Justin Thomas and Ludvig Åberg in the second round at 1:18 pm ET. After a record-breaking 9-under 62 in the opening round, Schauffele aims to maintain his lead and continue his impressive play. His consistent performance in previous tournaments, including holding the first-round lead, makes him a strong contender for the Wanamaker Trophy.
Xander Schauffele set a new PGA Championship record with an 18-under 62 in Round 1 of the PGA Championship 2024 at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. He made 10 birdies and no bogeys; three shots clear of the field. Top-ranked player Scottie Scheffler finished with a 4-under 67.
Other notable performances included Tiger Woods’ 1-over 71 and Rory McIlroy’s 3-under 68. Valhalla’s challenging layout with deep bluegrass rough and strategically placed bunkers tested the world’s best golfers.
