The PGA Championship 2024 will be held at the Valhalla Golf Club.

The PGA Championship 2024, one of golf’s four majors, will be held from May 16–19 at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. The 106th edition, organized by the PGA of America, features the world’s finest professionals and travels across various US golf courses. The tournament has been shifted from August to May in 2019, but has returned to its August schedule in 2021.

The event is the fourth time the PGA Championship has been hosted at the Valhalla Golf Club, with the field aiming to join Mark Brooks (1996), Tiger Woods (2000), and Rory McIlroy (2014) as PGA Champions. Michael Block, the defending PGA champion, will hit the first tee shot off the first hole. Other major names in golf include Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and Tiger Woods.

Valhalla Golf Club: Venue for PGA Championship 2024

Valhalla Golf Club, a private golf club in Louisville, Kentucky, was designed by Jack Nicklaus and opened in 1986. In 1992, it was selected to host the 1996 PGA Championship, one of golf’s four majors. The PGA of America purchased a 25% interest in the club in 1993, raising its stake to 50% in 2000. The club also hosted the PGA Club Professional Championship in 2002 and the Senior PGA Championship in 2004.

The PGA of America announced that the Senior PGA Championship and the PGA Championship would return to Valhalla in 2011 and 2014, respectively. In November 2017, the PGA of America announced that the PGA Championship would return to Valhalla in 2024.

The club was sold to a group of club members led by Jimmy Kirchdorfer, CEO of locally based piping supplier ISCO Industries, along with other members like former Yum! Brands CEO David Novak, businessman and former NBA player Junior Bridgeman, and hotelier Chester Musselman. The course sits on a 486-acre property on Shelbyville Road in the eastern portion of Louisville.

Major tournaments hosted at Valhalla include Mark Brooks winning the 1996 PGA Championship in a playoff, Tiger Woods winning the 2000 PGA Championship in a playoff, and Rory McIlroy beating Phil Mickelson in 2014. The club underwent a major “modernization” after hosting the Senior PGA Championship in 2011.
