India Hockey Team vs Wales Hockey Team: Head to Head record
The two teams will meet in the World Cup for the first time in history.
In the 15th edition of the FIH Hockey World Cup India got off to a good start in Pool D. After winning their opening game against Spain, India played a hard-fought draw against England in the second game. India is currently ranked No. 2 in Pool D with four points. Now in their pool encounter final India is set to face a relatively easier opponent Wales. Wales are playing in this big tournament for the first time in their history. They have been outplayed by England and Spain in their two games. Wales has conceded 10 goals in the tournament and scored just one against Spain. England and Spain both defeated Wales with a big margin of 5-0 and 5-1 respectively.
Now India is looking to set a record win against Wales in their final Pool D encounter and also eyeing the top spot and a guaranteed place in Quarter Final. The pool winner will be playing in Quarter Final while the runner-up and third place will play in the Crossovers. India is three goals behind England in Pool D with two goals in two games and four points. India’s defence against England was a master class in Hockey, what they need is a good striking ability in the nets. India’s star player Hardik Singh will miss the game against Wales due to an injury that happened in India’s opening clash against Redsticks.
To register their place in Quarter Finals India need to record their biggest win against Wales. These two have played only a few games against each other and India had a clear dominance against the new World Cup entrant Wales.
