The Women in Blue will play in two different competitions as part of the exposure tour.
The Indian women’s hockey team is all set for a European Tour to France and Spain scheduled to take place from July 16 to July 28, 2023. This tour will serve as a preparatory tour for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games 2022 slated to be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023.
The Women in Blue will commence their journey in Germany and launch their campaign in Limburg with their first match against China on July 16. Following this, they will play the hosts Germany on two separate occasions, with the teams facing off against each other first in Wiesbaden on July 18 and then in Russelsheim on July 19, 2023.
The Indian squad will next head to Terrassa, Spain, for the 100th Anniversary Spanish Hockey Federation - International Tournament. Their first match in this leg of the tour will be against the home team, Spain, on July 25. The Indian women's hockey team will then lock horns with the Republic of South Africa on July 27. Finally, they will end their campaign with a final match against England on July 28.
India hasn't undergone major changes from the Australian tour in May. Goalkeeper Savia Punia continues to be the leader of the team, with Deep Grace Ekka serving as her deputy. Experienced defender Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam and forward Deepika have returned to the side after being rested during the Australian tour.
The Indian women's hockey team honed their skills for the European Tour at the National Coaching Camp at SAI Centre in Bengaluru.
During their most recent international tour against Australia and its A team, India's performance concluded with one victory, one draw, and three losses. The tour kicked off on May 18 with India falling short in a hard-fought match that ended 4-2 in favor of Australia. The story was similar in the second game on May 20 as Australia again defeated India with a tight 3-2 score line.
However, in the next match, India made a strong comeback by holding Australia to a 1-1 draw. The next competition saw India playing Australia's A squad on May 25. However, despite a strong performance from India, Australia A pulled off a narrow victory and finished the match at 3-2. Finally, in the last match of the tour, India tasted success as they ended the tour on a high defeating Australia A by 2-1.
