India announce 34-member probables for Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023

The squad will assemble for a coaching camp in Bengaluru from October 16 to 22.
Hockey India has unveiled a 34-member core probable group for the senior women's national coaching camp, set to kick off on 16th October at the SAI Centre in Bengaluru. The camp will run until 22nd October, leading up to the Jharkhand Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023, Ranchi.
This prestigious tournament marks the first time it will be hosted in India and will feature the reigning Asian Games Champions - China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and the host nation, India.
Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023 is scheduled to commence on 27th October, the tournament will see India facing Thailand in their campaign opener.
The core group for the coaching camp and Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023 goalkeepers Savita, Rajani Etimarpu, Bichu Devi Kharibam, and Bansari Solanki. Defenders include Deep Grace Ekka, Gurjit Kaur, Nikki Pradhan, Udita, Ishika Chaudhary, Akshata Abaso Dhekale, Jyoti Chhatri, and Mahima Chaudhary.
The midfielders joining the camp are Nisha, Salima Tete, Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam, Jyoti, Navjot Kaur, Monika, Mariana Kujur, Sonika, Neha, Baljeet Kaur, Reena Khokhar, Vaishnavi Phalke, and Ajmina Kujur. The forward group includes Lalremsiami, Navneet Kaur, Vandana Katariya, Sharmila Devi, Deepika, Sangita Kumari, Mumtaz Khan, Sunelita Toppo, and Beauty Dungdung.
Janneke Schopman, India's Chief Coach, emphasized that this week-long camp will enable India to focus on areas that require assessment and improvement and prepare for the women's Asian Champions Trophy 2023.
Schopman commented, "Every tournament we play from now until the Olympic Qualifiers will be crucial, offering us a chance to grow as a team. This brief camp in Bengaluru precedes our move to women's Asian champions trophy 2023, Ranchi, and our primary focus will be a comprehensive review of our performance at the Asian games. The players are returning refreshed after a short break and are mentally prepared for the upcoming challenge on home turf."
