Women’s Hockey Pro League: India vs Netherlands Match 1 Live Updates

The Indian women’s hockey team is playing its FIH Women’s Hockey Pro League 2021-22 match against the Netherlands. They are playing as hosts to two matches on 8 and 9 April 2022. The venue is the iconic Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It recently saw the Indian men’s and women’s teams play two double-headers against Spain in their respective leagues. The women's team also played two back to back matches against Germany.
Janneke Schopman’s team will hope to get back to winning ways, but the Europeans will pose a strong challenge. It is imperative for the Indians to take advantage of home turf and secure the wins.

Team India
As aforementioned, India will look to start winning again in the FIH Hockey Women’s Pro League. Their last outings saw them conceding defeats against Spain and Germany. Currently, the women’s team sit in fourth place on the points table, with three wins out of six matches. Two opening victories against China and a subsequent win against Spain gave the Tokyo Olympics fourth-place finishers good momentum. Having said that, the defeat to the Spaniards and Germans came as a reality check. Schopman will hope to get the girls refocused for the Netherlands challenge.
Before the matches, Speaking at the pre-match virtual press conference, Indian women’s hockey team captain Savita Punia expressed excitement at the prospect of facing the Olympic Champions Netherlands in the double-header.
