The Patna Pirates dominated most part of the match, but the Bengaluru Bulls never lost hope during their vivo Pro Kabaddi League PKL 9 match at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Going into the last minute of the match, the Pirates held a comfortable lead, but the Bulls inflicted an ALL OUT and tackled Rohit Gulia to tie the match at 31-31. In the other game of the PKL 9 of the day, UP Yoddhas beat Tamil Thalaivas 41-24.
Sachin effected a few raids as the Patna Pirates took the lead at 6-4 in the 9th minute. Manish tackled Vikash Kandola to help the Pirates widen their lead further. The side from Patna inflicted an ALL OUT in the 11th minute to take a massive lead at 12-5. Bharat pulled off a fantastic multi-point raid in the 14th minute, but the Pirates continued to dominate the match at 16-7. The Pirates kept raging on and ended the first half being in the lead at 19-10.
Bharat picked up a couple of raid points and the Bulls tackled Rohit Gulia in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Pirates still had a comfortable lead at 22-15. All-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh also joined the party as the Pirates extended their lead further. Kandola found it difficult to breach the Pirates' defense as Patna had a stronghold of the match at 27-20 in the 34th minute. However, the Bulls inflicted an ALL OUT and Bharat effected a couple of raids in the last minute of the match, but they were still trailing at 30-31. Thereafter, the Bulls tackled Gulia in the dying seconds of the match to tie the match at 31-31.
PKL 9 Day 15 Match 2: UP Yoddhas 41-24 Tamil Thalaivas
U.P. Yoddhas beat the Tamil Thalaivas 41-24 in a match defined more by the brilliance of the Yoddhas' defense unit at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Raider Pardeep Narwal also chipped in with 6 points and with that became the first player to score to cross 1400 raid points in the history of the vivo Pro Kabaddi League PKL 9.
The game kicked off with the Thalaivas taking out U.P. Yoddhas' two lead raiders, Pardeep Narwal and Surender Gill in their first two raids. Within minutes though the Yoddhas had recomposed themselves and clawed back to take the lead. From there on, the Yoddhas truly kicked on and inflicted the first ALL OUT of the match soon after to take a 10-5 lead.
Both team's raiders matched each other step for step through the half, but the difference truly was the well drilled and coordinated Yoddhas defence. With five minutes of the half left, Narwal, on a DO OR DIE raid, took out Sahil Gulia and Himanshu - two of the last three remaining Thaliavas' players on the mat, leaving them staring at a second all out. The ALL OUT duly arrived immediately, and the Yoddhas went into the break leading at 23-11.
The Thalaivas came storming out into the second half, and had the Yoddhas on the ropes, on the cusp of an all out. Ashu Singh's SUPER TACKLE on V Visvanath helped them avoid that fate and keep the lead intact. Successful raiding from the Thalaivas constantly left the Yoddhas on the brink, but Ashu's constant ability to pull off super tackles meant they never lost their emphatic lead.
The Thalaivas tried their best to make a comeback, but they couldn't catch up with their opponents. The Yoddhas capped it off in the best way possible, substitute raider, Rathan getting a SUPER RAID to get them over the 40-point mark and help clinch their third win of the season.
