PKL 9 day 12 live updates: Bengaluru Bulls Vs Tamil Thalaivas
07:30 Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live update of day 12 of PKL season 9.
Gujarat Giants vs UP Yoddhas
UP Yoddhas after losing two consecutive encounters got back to the winning ways in PKL season 9 by defeating Bengaluru Bulls (44-37) in a high-scoring encounter. Pardeep Narwal was the star of the match scoring his first super 10 of the season and looked at his prime.
UP Yoddhas after two wins and two losses occupy the fourth spot in the points table. And the Pardeep Narwal-led UP Yoddhas will play Gujarat Giants in their next game.
Gujarat Giants did not have a good last game losing in a low-scoring encounter to Jaipur Pink Panthers (25-17). None of the main raiders was able to score more than five points summing up the team’s performance. In the four matches, Gujarat Giants have lost twice and won and tied a match each.
Head to Head
Gujarat Giants and UP Yoddhas have faced each other in seven matches in the Pro Kabaddi League of which Gujarat Giants have won four matches whereas UP Yoddhas has come out victorious on one occasion with two matches ending in a tie.
Key to Success
UP Yoddhas are playing well in both the raiding and defence complementing each other well. In the defence, Ashu Singh has been the standout with Sumit and Nitesh in the ranks. The team should look to continue in a similar way as they did in the previous match which has been inconsistent in the first few games.
Gujarat Giants were a young and inexperienced squad with Ram Mehar Singh depending on the youngsters to come good. Apart from Rakesh, not many have stood up in tough situations along with the captain Chandran Ranjith. The likes of Shankar Gadai and Partheek Dahiya need to step up as soon as possible.
Bengaluru Bulls vs Tamil Thalaivas
After a string of close results, Tamil Thalaivas finally win the first match of PKL season 9 defeating Patna Pirates by a one-point margin. The southern side was trailing by seven points with less than five minutes left in the second half but came back strong getting the all-out points and eventually winning the match.
Bengaluru Bulls after winning the first two encounters have now lost the next two matches putting them out of the playoff position and are currently ranked seventh. The team lost the last match to UP Yoddhas but mustered a point loss by a seven-point deficit.
Head to Head
Bengaluru Bulls and Tamil Thalaivas have met each other in 10 matches in the Pro Kabaddi League. Out of these 10 games, Bengaluru Bulls have won 8 whereas Tamil Thalaivas have come out victorious on the other two occasions.
Key to Success
The raiding department of Tamil Thalaivas clicked in the last encounter and showed good intent to produce a result which was lacking in the first three matches. “Himanshus” has been the go-to player in the absence of Paean Sehrawat and have executed their role to perfection. If Ajinkya Pawar can add a few more points then the team can reduce the pressure on the young raiders.
Bengaluru Bulls have a good solid defence with the two best defenders Saurabh Nandal and Mahendar Singh. Mahendra Singh has looked topsy-turvy putting in many unsuccessful tackles of the problem he had in the past too. This season being the captain he needs to reduce the unsuccessful tackle rate and look to score consistently.
