07:30 PM: Hello and welcome to Khel Now’s live update of Day 21 of PKL season 9.

Gujarat Giants vs Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates are back to winning ways after beating UP Yoddhas (34-29) in their first match of the Pune leg in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9. Sachin Tawar after a below-par season has started to show his original form scoring 11 points with Rohit Gulia providing a good supporting role.

On the other hand, Gujarat Giants won their last encounter against Telugu Titans comfortably (30-19) and are now currently placed in sixth place with 24 points in the points table. The defence played a massive role in Gujarat’s win in the last match with Sourav Gulia continuing his good form scoring a high-five. Rinku Narwal also scored four crucial tackle points with the raiders having an off day.

Head-to-Head

Gujarat Giants and Patna Pirates have faced each other nine times in the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Gujarat Giants have won five whereas Patna has come out victorious on other four occasions.

Key to Success

Patna Pirates needs to tighten up the defence against Gujarat Giants. Rakesh Kumar single-handedly can win the match considering his present form and Mohammed Chiyaneh will need to stop the raider from scoring efficiently. The battle will be between Rakesh and Chiyaneh and if Rakesh fails Patna will hold a slight advantage.

Chandran Ranjith apart from a few good matches playing the supporting raider role has not had a good season. The captain along with Parteek Dahiya will play a major role if Rakesh doesn't succeed against Patna Pirates' defence.

UP Yoddhas vs Telugu Titans

Bottom-placed Telugu Titans next face UP Yoddhas in PKL 9 on Monday. The Titans' poor form continued with the defeat against Gujarat Giants (30-19) in their first match of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9 Pune leg. The southern side looked in good form in the first half taking the lead but lost plot in the second half. Ankit in the defence put in a valiant effort scoring a high 5.

UP Yoddhas like Telugu Titans started the Pune leg on a losing note against Patna Pirates (29-34). Pardeep Narwal scored a super 10 but did not get good support from other raiders at a crucial juncture. Surender Gill had an off day and could only score four raid points with the defence off-balance.

Head-to-Head

UP Yoddhas and Telugu Titans have faced each other in 10 matches at the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, UP Yoddhas have won six matches whereas Telugu Titans have come out victorious on two occasions with two matches ending in a tie.

Key to Success

Ankit Beniwal and Abhishek Singh both played in the last encounter and will be the player to watch out for Telugu Titans. Ankit Beniwal was retained in season 9 after playing well last season along with Rajnish. Abhishek will need some game time to get back to form but Telugu Titans don't have much time left.

The defence of UP Yoddhas has been poor for the past couple of games collectively. Sumit, Nitesh Kumar and Ashu have been the pillar of UP Yoddhas' defence but have not lived up to the expectations. This will a good chance for the trio to get back to form and gain confidence against a weak Telugu raiding department.
