After a good start to the season, the league has picked up the pace with the presence of fans. Dabang Delhi KC the reigning champions have shown the same performance as the last season winning all five matches played to date. They remain the only unbeaten team after the first two weeks of the PKL 9 season.
Here we take a look at the Team of the Week for Gameweek 2 of PKL 9:
Girish Ernak - Defender
The defender from Bengal Warriors, tops the tackle points section scoring 20 points in five matches. Girish has a showed a lot of maturity during the matches and was praised by commentators and experts too. In the last few matches, Ernak has helped Bengal Warriors shape up the defence section.
Krishan Dhull - Defender
Krishan has been the standout right-corner defender for Dabang Delhi KC this season scoring 18 points in the first five matches. Dabang Delhi overall has a good defensive setup with three defenders inside the top 20 defenders list showing their dominance. They sit on top of the points table having won all the encounters.
Sunil Kumar - Defendrer
The captain of Jaipur Pink Panthers has picked up form in the last three matches after not performing well in the opening encounters. Sunil was close to scoring ten tackle points in a single game. Had he scored, he would have become the first to achieve the feat in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 9. After an average season with Gujarat Giants last year, Sunil Kumar has performed well this season.
Ankush - Defender
Ankush from Jaipur Pink Panthers has been a good find and has been performing consistently in five matches scoring 16 tackle points. He has given good support to the captain. Both are placed in the top five of the defender's section.
Rakesh Kumar - Raider
Kumar has been the standout performer for Gujarat Giants ahead of experienced raider and captain Chandran Ranjith. Rakesh has scored 60 raid points in five matches and stands in the third spot in the raiding chart. Like Surender Gill, he too has scored four Super 10s.
In the last game against UP Yoddhas, he got good support from Chandran Ranjith and going forward both the raiders will look to perform well simultaneously.
Surendar Gill - Raider
Surender Gill from the UP Yoddhas is placed second in the raiders list scoring 61 points in five matches. Gill has scored four super 10s so far and as the season has gone by the raider has looked good.
He scored 21 points in a single match which was half the team's score, but came at a losing cause. Off late Pardeep is giving Surender good support scoring at par with Gill.
Naveen Kumar - Raider
Naveen Express has been in tremendous form scoring super 10s in all five games he has played so far. Apart from Naveen none of the other raiders has achieved this feat in PKL season 9. Manjeet in the absence of Vijay Malik has been the backbone for Naveen reviving and scoring points consistently as the secondary raider.
Naveen Kumar to date has still been performing at his best even after taking up the captain's armband. He has scored 68 raid points in five matches topping the raiding list.
