The Bengaluru leg of Pro Kabaddi League PKL season 9 got over successfully with Dabang Delhi KC still holding the top spot in the points table. The table toppers won five successive encounters and then lost the last two matches. The Pune leg will be closely contested with four teams (Dabang Delhi KC, Jaipur Pink Panthers, Bengaluru Bulls, and Puneri Paltan) closing in for the top two spots.
Surinder Singh
The captain of U Mumba has been in phenomenal form in the last week scoring 13 tackle points in matches. Surinder started the season on a steady not getting involved in too many tackles but as the Bengaluru leg was coming to an end Surinder stood up. U Mumba has a pretty inexperienced defensive unit with Surinder being the most experienced having played for multiple franchises before. Also, the captain is the only defender to feature in the top 20 list for most tackle points from U Mumba.
Ankush
Ankush the cover defender has scored 23 tackle points in seven matches and has been scoring points on a consistent basis. Jaipur Pink Panthers has two defenders in the top three tackle points list showing complete dominance in the defence section. Ankush needs to carry forward the same form going into the Pune leg.
Saurabh Nandal
The Bengaluru Bulls corner defender features in the top 10 (tackle points list) having scored 22 tackle points in seven matches in PKL 9. Saurabh is getting good support from the captain Mahender Singh with the defence helping the raiding department. Bengaluru Bulls currently occupies the third spot with 22 points from seven matches.
Girish Ernak
Girish Ernak at the end of the Bengaluru leg is back in the top spot in the tackle points table with 29 points replacing Sunil Kumar with 25 points. The left-corner defender has been scoring points regularly and was instrumental in defeating Dabang Delhi KC in the final match of the first leg. Many experts have felt Girish has improved a lot in his gameplay and is also getting good support from Vaibhav Garje.
Bharat
Bharat has taken over the primary raider role from Vikash Kandola and has started performing consistently scoring super 10s. He was retained from the last season by Randhir Sehrawat and his decision has paid off retaining the youngster. In season 8 under Pawan Sehrawat, he played the secondary raider’s role to perfection. This season Bharat has scored 72 raid points in seven matches and looks set to be the top raider from Bengaluru Bulls.
Rakesh Kumar
Rakesh Kumar is having a dream PKL 9 season scoring 90 raid points in just seven matches during the Bengaluru leg. And he is currently second in the raid points table. Hehas scored six super 10s missing out on only one occasion. He also occupies the second spot in the successful raid list only behind Naveen Kumar. With 15 matches still left Rakesh Kumar looks set to reach the 300 raid points mark.
Naveen Kumar
Naveen “Express” is still holding the top spot in the raid points table with 91 points. The Dabang Delhi raider is the only player to get seven successive super 10s showing consistency across all seven matches. The captain of Dabang Delhi KC also occupies the top spot in the most successful raid list (77) and is continuing his form from where he left the last season.
