Bengaluru Bulls: Coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat and Bharat
Progress of Arun in the PKL
Bharat has been the go-to raider for Bengaluru Bulls in the first six games of PKL 9. After being retained from the last season the coach had high hopes for the youngster and Bharat has lived up to the expectations. Bharat is well ahead of Vikash Kandola in raid points tables showing his dominance.
Randhir Singh Sehrawat said, “You do not know that no one is poorer than Bharat in the entire league even after getting a job. I went as a chief guest for a tournament when I first spotted him. At that time he did not proper footwear as well. He has not played any Inter-University, junior or senior-level matches too but I had hopes for him and brought him to Bengaluru Bulls in the NYP section. He will definitely be a star in the future.”
Strategy behind Vikash Kandola raiding more in the first half
Vikash Kandola was sent in to raid more ahead of Bharat in the first half. Vikash is the primary raider and holds a lot of experience in the raiding department. The coach wanted to make use of Vikash Kandola's speed in the first half.
Coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat quipped “Bharat is a tall raider and the defenders of U Mumba will leap onto him at the start. So I wanted Vikash to raid more in the first half since he is short and experienced. Both Surender and Harender are good defenders and change the match at any time. At half time I gave Bharat some tips which he held onto pretty well.”
U Mumba: Coach Anil Chaprana
About the defensive errors after a healthy lead in the first half.
U Mumba had a healthy lead of eight points at the halfway mark but lost the plot thereafter. In the end, Anil Chaprana's side lost by a ten-point margin. The defensive errors hurt U Mumba a lot after performing well in the first half.
Anil Chaprana said, ”The defence couldn't control the game in the second half well and made consistent mistakes. The opposition took advantage of this and latched onto the situation perfectly. Also, we couldn't score points in the super tackle situation further denting the score.”
Youngster's performance going forward
U Mumba did not retain the core squad from the previous season and wanted to build a new young one in PKL 9. The season has been topsy turvy but the coach is hopeful that the team can perform better.
Anil Chaprana explained, “We have the next game against Gujarat Giants and need to get into practice and work hard.”
