Puneri Paltan vs Gujarat Giants

Puneri Paltan has become the first team in the PKL season 9 to qualify for the playoffs losing just four matches in the 18 matches played so far. Paltan won the last encounter against Telugu Titans quite comfortably (38-25). Pankaj Mohite scored eight points and this is the first time the youngster was provided with good game time.

Gujarat Giants lost a close battle against Tamil Thalaivas (39-42) which was kind of a do-or-die encounter. The western unit is currently placed 11th in the points table and has very less chance of qualifying. Deon Geon Lee for the first time this season was given the captain’s armband and did a decent job in raiding.

Head to Head

Puneri Paltan and Gujarat Giants have faced each other 11 times at the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Gujarat Giants have won seven matches whereas Puneri Paltan has come out victorious on three occasions with one match ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Pankaj Mohite from Puneri Paltan is one of the most talented players in the Pro Kabaddi league. With the team having a good balance in the raiding department, Pankaj wasn’t given enough chances to showcase his skills. Puneri Paltan now has four matches left in the league stages and now needs to test the bench strength with some game time.

Partheek Dahiya has been the only consistent raider for Gujarat Giants in the entire season 9 with others chipping in in crucial situations. Partheek Dahiya shall look to attack the cover duo of Saketh Sawant and Abhinesh Nadarajan which can be considered a weak link for the table toppers.

U Mumba vs Haryana Steelers

Haryana Steelers won the last encounter against Patna Pirates (33-23) and are still in contention for the playoff spot of PKL 9. All the remaining matches from here will be do-or-die matches for Manpreet Singh’s led side. Manjeet Dahiya and Meetu combined well in the last match to score ten and eight points respectively.

U Mumba won the last encounter with an eight-point margin against Bengal Warriors (49-41) with captain Rinku leading from the front scoring a high 5. Guman Singh and Ashish both scored super 10s scoring 14 and 13 points respectively.

Head to Head

U Mumba and Haryana Steelers have faced each other 12 times in the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Haryana has won four matches whereas U Mumba has also come out victorious on seven occasions with two matches ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Ashish returned to form in the last encounter scoring his second super 10 of the season. He was a replacement for Guman Singh who got injured in the mid-season and has stamped his spot as a secondary raider taking over from Jai Bhagwan. Along with raiding Ashish has also been good at defence which is an added advantage.

The combo of Meetu and Manjeet Dahiya needs to fire consistently to give the defenders an added cushion. Whenever the raiding duo has performed Haryana Steelers has won that particular encounter. Meetu in particular after a good start has performed below par and now needs to up his performance.
