PKL 9: Patna Pirates will look to get back on winning run against Telugu Titans

Mohammadreza will look to continue his last match form.

Telugu Titans have won their first encounter after a 12-match losing streak and the second win overall in PKL season 9. The bottom-placed home team beat a strong U Mumba side to gain much-needed confidence and will now play for pride after missing out on a playoff spot again this year.

Patna Pirates lost a close encounter to the struggling Dabang Delhi KC (27-30) and were without their star raider Sachin Tawar hurting the franchise badly. Shadlu was the star player along with Neeraj for assists who helped Patna get to a reasonable score and put in a fight as well.

Patna Pirates and Telugu Titans have faced each other 20 times in the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Telugu Titans have won ten whereas Patna Pirates has come out victorious on nine occasions with one game ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Chiyaneh will be up against Siddharth Dessai who has been handling the raiding department for Telugu Titans. Shadlu score 16 tackle points in the last encounter and all the tackle points came from super tackles showing complete dominance. He will once again have his task cut out against Telugu Titans as they will be playing in front of their home crowd and also will be high on confidence in winning their last match.

Parvesh Bainswal in the last match handled the defence very well along with Vishal Bharadwaj and the defence also put in sensible tackles rather than putting in advance tackles which they kept doing for the entire season. If Sachin doesn't play again then it will become easy for Parvesh as he will have to only stop Rohit Gulia with whom he has played in the past.

Key to Success

If the Telugu Titans raiders stop Sachin Tawar (if he plays) then Telugu Titans will definitely hold the upper hand as Pata Pirates do not have a strong secondary raider to support Sachin which has been hurting Patna badly this season. 

Apart from Shadlu the likes of Sunil (right corner defender) need to step up in crucial situations. With Abhishek Singh slowly getting back to form it will become difficult for Patna Pirates if only Shadlu performs. Sunil has been in good form this season and needs to be consistent as the league is fast approaching the end stage.
