07:30 Welcome to Khel Now’s live updates of day 53 of PKL season 9.

Patna Pirates vs Bengaluru Bulls

Bengaluru Bulls became the third team to qualify for the playoffs of PKL 9 after defeating UP Yoddhas in the last encounter and will now be eyeing the top 2 spots. Saurabh Nanadal bounced back strongly against UP Yoddhas but the southern side gave away too many points at the fag end of the match.

Patna Pirates’ chances of qualifying for the playoffs look very slim after their loss to Puneri Paltan (30-44) in the last encounter. Rohit Gulia’s inconsistency hurt Patna badly as the raider failed to score a single raid point and there was no support to Sachin who scored yet another super 10.

Head to Head

Bengaluru Bulls and Patna Pirates have faced each other 20 times in the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Bengaluru has won five matches whereas Patna Pirates has come out victorious on 12 occasions with three matches ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Apart from Chiyaneh none of the other defenders has looked consistent. Sunil the right-corner defender started the season on a bright note and was amongst the top 10 in the tackle points list but after the mid-season, the performance has been on a downward curve. Chiyaneh again will have to shoulder the responsibility in defence.

Aman and Saurabh Nandal combo has shown good promise in the recent few matches for Bengaluru Bulls and shall be the going into the playoffs. Aman in particular who was given an extended run by coach Randhir Sehrawat has shown consistency.

Tamil Thalaivas vs UP Yoddhas

Tamil Thalaivas after the loss to Jaipur Pink Panthers has come back strongly even in the absence of in-form defender Sagar Rathee. Thalaivas came out victoriuos against their southern rivals Telugu Titans (24-52) and the win has also helped them increase the score difference by a good margin.

UP Yoddhas lost the last encounter against Bengaluru Bulls(35-38) but made a great comeback at the fag end of the match scoring ten points in the last three minutes. Pradeep Narwal scored his 10th super 10 of the season but the inefficiency of defence let the team down.

Head to Head

UP Yoddhas and Tamil Thalaivas have faced each other 11 times in the Pro Kabaddi League out of which, Tamil Thalaivas have won three times and UP Yodhhas have won come out victorious on five occasions with three games ending in a tie.

Player to watch

Arpit Saroha has been donning the right corner position in the absence of the injured Sagar and has done a decent job so far. He will now be up against “record breaker” Pardeep Narwal and his deputy in raiding Rohit Tomar who has looked good in the past few matches. Arpit needs to evade the threat and try not to give bonus points.

Pardeep Narwal shall look to target the weakness of Tamil Thalaivas which is the left corner and left cover position. Abhishek M operates in both the cover positions and Pardeep should look to target the inconsistent cover defender.
