The tournament’s previous edition was held in 2017 in Gorgan, Iran when the Indian men’s team defeated Pakistan 36-22 in the final. In the women’s category, India is the defending champion, having won the championship in 2017 by beating South Korea 42-20 in the summit clash.

In the match, the Indian team gave all out to Korea a total of seven times and the Korean team could not stand at all in front of the strong Indian team. Team India did not face any challenge from the Korean team at all and won the match easily. Pawan Sehrawat, Naveen Kumar, Arjun Deshwal, Surjit Singh, Parvesh Malik, Nitesh Kumar and Nitin Rawal got a chance in the starting seven.
