The team has entrusted this significant responsibility to an Iranian veteran.

All teams are gearing up for the 10th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) with their preparations underway. Pro Kabaddi League announced the list of “Elite Retained Players”, “Retained Young Players” and “Existing New Young Players” for the landmark season on Monday. Meanwhile, there are also several major shifts happening in the coaching staff.

U Mumba have announced their new coach for the upcoming PKL 10. The team has appointed Iran’s Gholamreza Mazandarani as their head coach.

Gholamreza had also previously served as the head coach for the U Mumba in the 2018 season. He led his team to finish second in Group A and secured a spot in the playoff.

U Mumba Announces New Head Coach on Instagram

U Mumba shared a video on their official Instagram account, announcing the appointment of Gholamreza Mazandarani as the head coach. The team captioned the post, “We are very excited. The lion of Iran is once again returning to our fort. Welcome Gholamreza Mazandarani as the head coach for the 10th season, Mondal League.

Disappointing 9th Season

U Mumba’s performance seemed quite disappointing in the last edition of PKL. The team just managed to secure 10 wins out of 22 matches they played and had to face defeat in 12 matches. They ended up in the 9th position on the points table.

Had U Mumba won a couple of extra matches, they would have secured a spot in the playoffs. However, they faced losses in four out of their last five matches.

Most of the team’s players had underperformed, and as a result, they couldn’t deliver the expected performance. In this context, Gholamreza Mazandarani now bears a significant responsibility on his shoulder to lead the team forward.

The franchise has retained notable players like Surinder Singh, Jay Bhagwan, and Rinku for this year and during the auction, they will aim to include several other top-quality players in their team.
