The top raider has spoken about scoring the most points this time.

Gujarat Giants have reached the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) finals twice in history but have yet to clinch a title. The team shows glimpses of excellent performance in some seasons but lags behind in others. The Gujarat team has several outstanding players for PKL 10, including Rohit Gulia, who is making waves in the raiding department. In an exclusive interview ahead of the new season, Rohit Gulia discussed various issues. Let’s find out what he said.

Excitement to play with Ram Mehar Singh

For PKL Season 9, the Gujarat Giants replaced Manpreet Singh with coach Ram Mehar Singh. Having previously led the Patna team to championship victory, expectations were high for Ram Mehar Singh, and Rohit Gulia praised his coaching style.

He said, “I am quite excited to play with Ram Mehar Singh. His coaching style is different, and he coaches very well. Our rapport with him is quite good. He is also guiding us on the mistakes made in the finals of the fifth season, explaining what went wrong at that time. Each coach has a different strategy.”

Season’s Target: Winning the Trophy

According to Rohit Gulia, Gujarat Giants have reached the finals twice but have failed to secure the trophy. This season, they aim to go beyond that and claim the title. He stated, “Our only target this season is to win the trophy. Apart from that, whatever role the coach assigns to us, we will try to fulfill it. Our target is solely the trophy, and we do not want to settle for second or third place.”

Team Preparation

Gujarat Giants are gearing up for the 10th season under the leadership of Ram Mehar Singh. Young players are undergoing intensive training for the upcoming season. Regarding the team’s preparation, Rohit Gulia said, “So far, two Iranian players have not joined. However, we are practicing. Coach sir is conducting our practice, and we are paying a lot of attention to fitness.”

Desire to Break Pardeep Narwal’s Record in PKL 10

Rohit Gulia has set a significant target for PKL Season 10 – breaking Pardeep Narwal’s record. Expressing his desire, he said, “Pardeep Narwal set a record by scoring the most points in a season with 369 points. This season, I want to break that record. I want to score the highest.”

“We Won’t Play Under Pressure”

While Gujarat Giants have reached the finals twice, they have not secured the title even once. According to Rohit Gulia, the reason is the team’s immense pressure in knockout matches, affecting the players’ performance. However, he emphasized that the team would not succumb to pressure this time.

He said, “The more pressure you put on yourself, the worse you perform. Therefore, we will not take any pressure at all. Coach sir also says that we should not play under pressure but only according to our strategy.”
