PKL 10: Ram Mehar Singh reveals big reason for not including Prateek Dahiya in starting 7
Coach has not expressed much happiness over the team’s performance.
The coach did not express much happiness about the team’s performance. Gujarat Giants have made a fantastic start to the 10th season of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 10). They defeated Telugu Titans in their first match, marking a strong beginning with a victory. The confidence of Gujarat would have increased significantly after this win. In the first match for Gujarat, Sonu Jaglan delivered an impressive performance, despite not getting a chance in the starting seven. He earned five points in his very first raid, turning the tide in favor of Gujarat, and the team maintained their lead throughout, securing the victory. Captain Fazel Atrachali and Mohammad Nabibakhsh also had a commendable performance.
Coach Ram Mehar Singh, during the post-match press conference, provided feedback on Gujarat Giants’ victory against Telugu Titans. He praised Fazel Atrachali but mentioned that the team couldn’t achieve a big win due to the non-performance of the main raider, Rakesh.
Team did not play much better – Ram Mehar Singh
Gujarat Giants coach Ram Mehar Singh said, ‘A win is a win, but we couldn’t play with that strategy. The defense has strengthened with Fazel’s arrival, but our best raider couldn’t deliver the expected performance. If he had played well, the result would have been even better. We have variety in our raiding department, but there were several mistakes from the team. However, Sonu turned the match with just one raid.’
Why did Prateek Dahiya not get a place in the starting seven?
Ram Mehar Singh also commented on Pratik Dahiya not getting a chance in the starting seven. He explained, “Pratik Dahiya and Rakesh are both good raiders. To tackle Pawan, we needed the combination of Fazel and Nabibakhsh, and that’s why Pratik Dahiya had to be kept out of the starting seven. We needed a left raider.”
Fazal Atrachali’s reaction to tackling Pawan Sehrawat
Regarding tackling Pawan Sehrawat, Fazel Atrachali commented, “I am happy with my team’s overall performance. This is a significant tournament; on any given day, someone will perform well, and on another day, someone else will. As for tackling Pawan Sehrawat, he is a good raider, but I don’t focus on the opponent; I concentrate on my own performance.”
