Pro Kabaddi League season 11 to start in July 2024

Midway into season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League, the fans have had a wonderful season with enthralling action so far. The kabaddi fans have more reason to rejoice as PKL 11 is set to start in July 2024.

“The organizers are keen to bring the tournament back to its original July – September window. As this is the period with the least cluttered sporting calendar in the country, they believe it is ideally suited to gain maximum attention for the league,” a source close to the developments informed Khel Now.

The last two seasons were held in the December – February window due to travel restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. It was expected that this season will be held in July, but with the Asian Games and Asian Kabaddi Championships being scheduled, it was again pushed to December. Howeveer, 2024 presents the best opportunity for the league to return to its original window.

PKL 11 will be played right after T20 World Cup

It will commence shortly after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup, whose final is set to take place on June 29. The auction before Season 11 might happen in the last week of May, the window between the conclusion of the 2024 Indian Premier League and the start of the T20 World Cup. Star Sports is the host broadcaster for all these events and they have planned it such that there will be no overlap between them.

While cricket dominates the viewership ratings, it is the PKL that stands second when compared with franchise leagues of other sports in India. Star Sports along with Marshal Sports Pvt Ltd were the key people in starting this league in 2014. The initiative has helped expand the popularity of the sport on the International map.
