Puneri Paltan clinch PKL 10 trophy by beating Haryana Steelers in final
This is the maiden title win for the Maharashtra-based franchise.
Puneri Paltan have created history by winning their first-ever Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) title after failing to do so last season. They decimated their opposition throughout the tournament and are the deserving winners of PKL 10.
The Haryana Steelers tried everything in their power, but Aslam Indamdar’s side was just too good for them. After winning the title as a player, Manpreet Singh has lost his third PKL final as a coach.
Vinay started off the proceedings here in Hyderabad with an empty raid followed by an empty raid from Aslam Inamdar as well. Shivam Patare almost opened the scoring for the Steelers, but his point was ruled out as he had entered the lobby before the touch happened and Puneri Paltan were awarded the first point of the final.
Mohit Goyat squeezed out a point from a do-or-die raid before Shivam Patare opened the scoring for the Steelers. Puneri Paltan’s defense were at the top of their game and were allowing the Steelers even to have a sniff at them.
It was a very tight affair for the majority of the game as both sides were not willing to risk too much in the ultimate game. Gaurav Khatri got the hold of Vinay before Aslam Inamdar was caught by Rahul Sethpal. Things were under control for both sides until Pankaj Mohite turned the tables around in favor of his side.
Pankaj Mohite pulled off a four-point super raid in a do-or-die situation and completely changed the storyline of the final. Vishal came in for the Haryana Steelers, picked up two crucial points, and avoided an all-out for his side before the half-time whistle as Puneri Paltan went into the break with a three-point lead.
Mohit Goyat began the second half on the right note in the second half with a point out of a do-or-die raid. Puneri Paltan got their tactics spot on as they took the game away from the Steelers in the second half.
Haryana Steelers gave away a few silly points out of nervousness and that did cost them the game while Puneri Paltan stood firm and enjoyed the ultimate game to its fullest. Gaurav Khatri brought down Shivam Patare and added one more point to his tally before Mohammadreza Chiyaneh pulled off his 99th tackle point this season.
Siddharth Desai got in a super raid and took out Aslam Inamdar and Shadloui before getting one more point in his final raid. And Mohit Goyat came in to see out the remainder of the game and help his side lift their first-ever PKL title.
The referee then announced the end of the game as Puneri Paltan clinched their first-ever trophy after three previous close attempts. The players and the fans jumped in jubilation and celebrated their victory in the grand finale.
