PKL 10: Arjun Deshwal and Ashu Malik headline 'Team of the Delhi Leg'

Dabang Delhi’s performance in their home leg was not as good as they expected.

Before leaving for their home leg in PKL 10, Dabang Delhi was in incredible form losing just one of their last nine matches. They were expected to win games and book their playoff ticket during the leg. But with just one win in four matches, it was a big blow for the Ashu Malik led side.

Although they are just a point way from booking the playoff spot, they would have liked to win more games. Bengaluru Bulls and Tamil Thalaivas performed well this week and kept their hopes alive of reaching the playoffs. This is the reason why players of these teams have made it to the Team of the Delhi Leg.

PKL 10: Team of the Delhi Leg:

Raiders

Ashu Malik (Dabang Delhi)

Dabang Delhi might not have had a memorable home leg as they could register only one win. But their skipper continued his dream run as he scored a whopping 54 points in four matches. His performance against Jaipur Pink Panthers showed how relentless he has been in the attacking front. He still wears the green arm band and Delhi would want him to continue as they need him to continue in the playoffs.

Arjun Deshwal (Jaipur Pink Panthers)

If there is a serious contender to take the green armband from Ashu Malik’s hand, then it is Arjun Deshwal who won it last time. With his team securing the playoff spot, he is well in-line to achieve it. He showed it in the Delhi leg as he produced two brilliant performance against two top-quality defensive units of Patna Pirates and Dabang Delhi KC.

Sushil (Bengaluru Bulls)

At the start of the season, Bengaluru Bulls coach would looking towards the likes of Bharat, Vikas Kandola, and Neeraj Narwal to be the Raider that takes them to playoffs. While they did it to an extent in the first half, it appears that the season six qualification depends on the performance of Sushil. From being a subsitute to now a lead Raider, Sushil proved his worth with 19 points in the Delhi Leg.

Defenders

Yogesh (Dabang Delhi)

While Ashu Malik has been getting the limelight with his Raiding pyrotechnics, the rock solid consistency of Yogesh has gone unnoticed this season. The Delhi leg presented the best opportunity for the Right Corner to show his impact as he was scoring points irrespective of the result of the game. With 15 Points from the leg he well and truly makes it to the Team of the Week.

Sahil Gulia (Tamil Thalaivas)

Sahil Gulia will be manning the Left corner in the team of the week. In the absence of their regular skipper Sagar Rathee, the 25-year-old stepped up to ensure the Thalaivas are still in race for playoffs. With 6 Points against UP Yoddhas, he almost killed the game in the first half. If he can feature in the next week’s Team, then Thalaivas might have gone to a playoff spot.

Surjeet Singh (Bengaluru Bulls)

Bengaluru Bulls’ Surjeet Singh has succeeded in securing a spot in the Right cover. Surjeet Singh is the pioneer in the turnaround the Bulls have done this season. He has shown his value in practically every game. Surjeet Singh was instrumental in the team’s victory during the Delhi leg, scoring six points all by himself against U-Mumba. Bengaluru Bulls are playing so well because Surjeet Singh has kept the defense together from one end.

Parteek (Bengaluru Bulls)

Surjeet’s partner on the other side Parteek takes the Left cover position. Despite being a late entrant to the squad he has fitted himself well. His partnership with veteran Surjeet is one to watch out for. They both had two brilliant games in the Delhi leg against two teams from Maharastra. They did give a hard time for the opposition Raiders.
