Many players might face increased difficulties due to this development.

The Mashal Sports Organization, which is gearing up for the new season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), has encountered a significant setback. The Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) has terminated its agreement with them. According to a press release from AKFI, their contract with Mashal Sports Limited has officially ended. As of June 30, 2024, there is no longer any agreement between the two parties.

Mashal Sports and the AKFI had collaborated for many years, facilitating the smooth organization of the PKL. However, with AKFI now ending its partnership with Mashal Sports, the players participating in the PKL may be affected. Those who aspire to play both for India and in the PKL might face increased challenges.

AKFI might impose various restrictions on PKL players

If the AKFI decides that players who participate in the Pro Kabaddi League will be ineligible for the Indian Kabaddi team or domestic tournaments, it could create significant issues for these players. Furthermore, AKFI may introduce additional restrictions, potentially barring many superstar players from competing in the PKL.

The PKL’s popularity has surged, making it the second most-watched league in India after the IPL. Such developments could greatly harm the league. To date, there have been ten PKL seasons, and preparations are underway for the 11th season, which is expected to start soon.
