India Kabaddi legend and Pro Kabaddi League team Puneri Paltan’s coach Anup Kumar has been fulfilling his duties as an Inspector on the streets of Delhi-Gurgaon to play his part in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

During his playing days, he always led by example on the mat and now he is doing the same in the time of crisis. As the country is engulfed by the pandemic, many Kabaddi stars have picked up a different role and Anup Kumar is one of them. He has been busy of late patrolling the streets at night to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.

One of the sport's most decorated athletes, he is also an Inspector with the Haryana Police and is posted in the national capital to maintain peace. While the country remains in lockdown to curb and control the spread of COVID-19, the police across the nation have been working hard day and night to ensure peace and order in these tough times.

Anup Kumar shared an image of him in a police uniform on his Instagram handle and wrote, “Hi friends! This is what I have been doing these days during nights, here in Gurgaon–Delhi region. It feels good to keep my beloved country safe during these troubled times.”

He also advised the general public and his fans by saying, “Stay safe, have good nutrition and engage in at least 20 minutes of exercise! That will help you in being bright during the lockdown.”

He could be seen wearing a protective mask in the picture which is important to keep oneself safe from contracting and spreading the virus. Other than Anup, Tamil Thalaivas skipper and one of India’s top raiders Ajay Thakur has also been working as a policeman in Himachal Pradesh.

Thakur is a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the state police department.
