Bengal Warriors have only a one-game lead over UP Yoddhas in the PKL.

Bengal Warriorz are set to play UP Yoddhas on Day 8 of the Hyderabad Leg of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 (PKL 11). The game sees the Maninder Singh-led side come after losing their season opener to Jaipur Pink Panther 34-39. Raider Nitin Kumar completed a Super 10, scoring 13 points, whereas star raider Maninder Singh scored eight points.

Fazel Atrachali made multiple Super Tackles in the Pro Kabaddi League game to complete his High 5. However, these were not enough as Arjun Deshwal’s 15 points and an all-round performance by Abhijeet Malik propelled the PKL Season 9 champions to a win.

As for the UP Yoddhas, they couldn’t have asked for a better start to Pro Kabaddi League 11. Despite the departure of the record-breaker Pardeep Narwal, the team has seen inspired performances from the raiders Bhavani Rajpoot, Bharat Hooda, and Surender Gill in the attacking departments. Meanwhile, Sahul Kumar and Sumit have made the defence look as good as it ever was for the franchise.

Owing to these personnel, the Yoddhas have beaten Naveen Express’ Dabang Delhi 28-23 and Pardeep Narwal’s Bengaluru Bulls 57-36. This temporarily puts the GMR Sport-owned franchise second on the points table with a score difference of 26 points.

The two teams have played each other 14 times previously in Pro Kabaddi League. Bengal Warriorz edges past the Yoddhas just with five wins over the latter’s four. Four games in the Pro Kabaddi League have ended with the two teams inseparable. The high number of games finishing as a tie doesn’t come as a surprise given Bengal Warriorz’s overall record in the PKL. They have the most ties played in the tournament’s history.

The two teams are yet to play each other in a Pro Kabaddi League knock-out game. In the last four games played between the two sides, three of them have finished with the two teams separated by a point or less. Two of those games have finished as a draw whereas the two teams have a win each in the other two.
