The Indian team starts their campaign against Thailand on Day 2.

The second edition of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup is currently underway in Dhaka, Bangladesh. A total of 11 teams are participating in the tournament, divided into two groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the semifinals.

The tournament began on Monday, 17th November, with four matches played on the opening day. Eight teams participate on the opening day of the World Cup 2025, including last edition’s silver medalists, Iran, and the host nation, Bangladesh.

Most of the matches on the opening day were one-sided, with the stronger teams dominating their opponents. All the Asian teams that played registered comfortable wins over the non-Asian teams. On that note, let’s take a look at the results from Day 1 of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025.

Results of Day 1

The inaugural match of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 began with the host nation, Bangladesh, taking on the African giants, Uganda. Bangladesh registered a comfortable 42–22 victory. Uganda showed some resistance in the first half, but the hosts dominated the second half to seal the win.

In the second game, the Asian Games bronze-medalist Nepal started their World Cup campaign with a commanding 58–16 win over Zanzibar, showcasing their dominance and proving that they are strong contenders for the trophy this year.

In the third match, the runners-up of the previous World Cup, Iran, began their campaign with a massive 55–11 victory against Poland. This impressive performance sends a strong message to other teams that Iran is once again aiming for the title.

The fourth and final match of the day featured Asian Games silver-medalist Chinese Taipei, who comfortably defeated Kenya 38–16. Chinese Taipei displayed a very balanced performance, with both their raiders and defenders contributing equally. With such a clinical start, Chinese Taipei made it clear that they are one of the strongest teams in this tournament.

Matches on the second day

The second day of the Women’s Kabaddi World Cup will once again feature four exciting matches. The action will begin with the defending champions, the Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team, taking on Thailand.

In the second match of the day, Nepal will face Poland as they look to continue their winning momentum. The host nation, Bangladesh, will then return to the mat for the third encounter, taking on Germany and aiming for another strong performance in front of their home crowd.

The final match of the day will see Iran face Kenya, with Iran hoping to build on their dominant start to the tournament.
