Pardeep Narwal shockingly announced his retirement after going unsold in the PKL 12 auction.

On June 2, 2025, Pardeep Narwal, one of India’s top Kabaddi players, announced his retirement from the sport. The news came just one day after he was unsold in the PKL 12 auction, leaving fans across the country heartbroken.

Pardeep Narwal revealed his decision during a live session with sports broadcaster Sunil Taneja. Popularly known as the “Dubki King”, Pardeep Narwal was the nightmare for the opposition defence and will surely be missed in the Pro Kabaddi League. Pardeep is widely regarded as the greatest raider the PKL has ever seen.

With 1801 raid points, Pardeep holds the record of having the most raid points in the Pro Kabaddi League history. His consistency was something else, having scored 300 raid points twice in the league. He also has the record for the most super raids in the season.

He was the first player to score 1000 points. No raider even comes close to Pardeep Narwal, such was his dominance in PKL. He has also scored the most points in a season. In the 5th season, he scored 369 points, a record that is still unbroken.

I am glad I was a player who had the chance to play alongside you. Fazel Atrachali paid tribute to Pardeep Narwal.

After Pardeep Narwal’s retirement, the veteran Iranian defender Fazel Atrachali paid a heartfelt tribute to Pardeep’s career and said he was so grateful to play alongside him. He further said that I am lucky to play alongside the Kabaddi legend, and Kabaddi will miss him.

Sharing a video of Pardeep Narwal on his Instagram story, Fazel wrote, “You were undoubtedly one of the beauties of kabaddi, and I am glad I was a player who had the chance to play alongside you. Happy retirement, Kabaddi legend. The Kabaddi family will miss you.”

The Iranian legend recognizes another legend, and there is a saying that “great people recognize greatness in others.” Both Pardeep and Fazel have given us countless and unforgettable memories to fans, and even though they haven’t played on the same team, their bond off the court and on-court rivalries are so good, and that’s what makes this league one of the best leagues in India.
