SHOCKER' Female Kabaddi players served food on toilet floor in Saharanpur
Immediate action has been taken against the sports officer and the contractor.
A video of Kabaddi players being served food inside the toilet of a stadium in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur went viral earlier on Tuesday. In a three-day state-level Under-17 girls kabaddi tournament, a few photos and a video are out where the food is kept on the toilet floor where men’s urinals can be seen directly opposite to the spot. A few players reportedly complained about the matter in front of Animesh Saxena, who is a sports officer of Saharanpur, who in turn reprimanded the cooks.
Following this outrage, Animesh couldn’t save himself from being suspended. The Union Sports Minister, Anurag Thakur, took strict action against the contractor and the officers. The contractor will be blacklisted for the future as well.
The controversy has now taken a political turn. The opposition Congress accused the ruling party BJP of ignoring the basic needs of sportspersons. Congress slammed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's government. In a tweet, congress accused the UP govt. for not providing better facilities to Kabaddi players and instead spending a large amount on 'false advertisements.'
This was not at all, as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, too, hit out at the BJP, describing the incident as shameful. The leader of Rashtriya Lok Dal, Jayant Singh, expressed this scenario by calling it an insult to the players. Now, the state government has directed ADM Finance and Revenue, Rajnish Kumar Mishra, to investigate this issue. The Directorate of Sports has also sought a reply from the district magistrate on the incident.
This act is completely disgraceful to the players. Strict action should be taken against the guilty party.
