Gujarat Giants have a one-win lead over Bengal Warriorz in Pro Kabaddi League.

Kabaddi is a game of seconds and much like the sport, the auction is also a game of seconds. One decision that the Gujarat Giants team management took in the Pro Kabaddi League auction that preceded this season, seems to have backfired heavily as they are reeling at the bottom of the points table.

One team that has reaped the benefits of that decision is the Bengal Warriorz who are slowly becoming one of the contenders for the title in PKL 11. The decision not to use their Final Bid Match (FBM) card when Fazel Atrachali was sold for just 50 lakhs is a shocker to every Kabaddi fan and Gujarat seems to be suffering as their defence has looked weak.

In the eight Pro Kabaddi League games they have played so far, barring the first game they have lost all seven games by huge margins which has put them at the bottom of the points table. They will be facing Bengal Warriorz, whose defence and the team have been led brilliantly by Fazel Atrachali.

The Iranian did the same with Gujarat last Pro Kabaddi League season and it happened in the games against Bengal Warriorz as well as they won both games by a margin of nine points which includes a High-5. Although Gujarat doesn’t have Fazel, they would want to change their fortunes with an inspired performance, much like Parteek Dahiya did against Bengal last season.

His 25-point performance stumbled the Warriorz defense and coach Ram Mehar Singh would want his team to put in such an effort. A fact to encourage Parteek is the match will happen at the venue where he created magic last time. But, Bengal will stay calm and look to repeat the results from season nine when they won both their games.

Both teams have a rich history between themselves, showing fierce competition much like they did in season eight when they each won a game. During the 2019 Pro Kabaddi League season, two teams produced some of the best high-octane Kabaddi action with Bengal winning one game by a margin of two points and the other one ending in a tie, much like their first-ever encounter in Pro Kabaddi League history in season five.

While Gujarat Giants might be down in confidence they would like to draw inspiration from their first-ever playoff game which happened in their debut season in 2017. It was a one-sided victory over Bengal Warriorz when their entire team contributed and more importantly silenced Maninder Singh as he could score only one point in the game.

If Gujarat could replicate the game, then it would not only yield them a win but also boost their confidence for the Pro Kabaddi League season 11. If not, Bengal could be coasting to yet another win to challenge their opponents in the top six.

Gujarat Giants vs Bengal Warriorz: Head-to-Head Record in Pro Kabaddi League

Matches: 11

Bengal Warriorz: 4

Gujarat Giants: 5

In the 11 Pro Kabaddi League encounters they have faced each other, the Giants have a slight edge with five wins to Delhi’s four victories in their six-season history. They have also produced two tied games and if they could produce another on a Wednesday night, Kabaddi fans will have a treat to watch.
