Tamil Thalaivas vs Gujarat Giants: All time Head-to-Head record in Pro Kabaddi
Gujarat Giants hold a three-win lead over Tamil Thalaivas in Pro Kabaddi League history.
Match 95 of the Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) league stage will see Gujarat Giants take on Tamil Thalaivas at the Badminton Hall in the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune.
The Tamil Thalaivas have endured a challenging season in PKL 11, plagued by injuries and inconsistent performances. Losing captain Sagar Rathee in the opener and star raider Narender Kandola more recently has left them struggling to find their rhythm. With just five wins from 15 matches, the Thalaivas sit ninth on the PKL 11 table and are reeling from a 32-21 loss to Dabang Delhi as they head into the Pune leg.
Meanwhile, the Gujarat Giants are also battling for survival in PKL 11 as they aim for a playoff spot. Coached by Ram Mehar Singh, the Giants currently occupy the 11th position with four wins from 15 matches. However, their spirited 34-34 draw with Bengaluru Bulls shows they’re not going down without a fight. Both teams will be desperate to turn their fortunes around in the coming matches.

They came into the league in 2017 when PKL was expanded from eight teams to 12 teams. The first encounter between these two sides took place in season five with Ajay Thakur Houdini-kind of act stole the game from Gujarat to win the game for Thalaivas.
Gujarat Giants got one back by beating them in season six. The 2019 edition of Pro Kabaddi League saw them compete against each other twice in a season for the first time. They shared the honours with a win each. It included a massive 29-point win with a 50-21 scoreline for Gujarat. Sachin Tanwar was part of the Orange Army till season seven and was let go after that.
The post-pandemic era saw Sachin’s place replaced by Rakesh who was the lead raider in both games against Tamil Thalaivas. Gujarat won both the games against the Tamil Nadu-based franchise in season eight. Season nine witnessed the first tie between the Giants and Thalaivas.
It was a historic Pro Kabaddi League game for Thalaivas as it marked the debut of Narender Kandola in PKL and he picked up a Super 10 in his debut. The Dubki Prince has now become synonymous with the Thalaivas as he helped them beat the two-time finalists in the second game of season nine.
Incidentally, the win for Thalaivas came at Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad which will host the game on Wednesday. Last season saw the Giants strike back with two wins from two games which helped them finish fourth in the points table. With quality players in both sides, a nerve-wracking contest awaits on Wednesday night.
