Haryana Steelers vs Gujarat Giants: All time Head-to-Head record in Pro Kabaddi
Haryana Steelers hold a six-win lead over Gujarat Giants in the Pro Kabaddi League.
Haryana Steelers will play Gujarat Giants in match 40 of the Hyderabad Leg of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 (PKL 11).
The Steelers come into the match after having seen their three-match winning run Pro Kabaddi League brought to a halt by the Bengal Warriors. Manpreet Singh-coached side lost 38-40 despite Vinay’s Super 10 and an all-round effort from star player Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh, who scored nine points in PKL 11 (six from raids and three from tackles).
After losing their Pro Kabaddi League season opener to the defending champions Puneri Paltan, Haryana Steelers have come back stronger to secure all five points from the matches against Jaipur Pink Panthers, Dabang Delhi and UP Yoddhas. Vinay, Shivam Pathare and Shadloui have been the pick of the raiders to have collected points consistently for the franchise.

However, it was the defence led by the left cover of Iran along with Rahul Sethpal and Sanjay Dhull that impressed everyone the most. Statistically speaking, Manpreet Singh’s men are the third-best defensive unit in the league while inflicting the second-lowest all-outs.
The Steelers are aggressive in their approach when it comes to the defensive side of the match, and it is perhaps why their success rate in tackling is not as high despite many defenders consistently performing well. Coach Manpreet Singh has given them a free hand and it has so far worked for them.
Gujarat Giants are the team sitting at the bottom of the Pro Kabaddi League points table. It is difficult to think of anything that has gone well for the Ram Meher Singh-coached side. Maybe the fact that Guman Singh was finally able to break the Super 10 curse against Puneri Paltan as he finished the match with 12 points. This was the first Super 10 by any raider of the Giants in the season.
The defence of the Adani Sports Line-owned franchise has struggled with each passing match, slipping into the bottom four for tackles success rate in the league. The start that Sombir and co. got against Bengaluru Bulls couldn’t be maintained by them as they kept losing matches by huge margins.
Haryana Steelers vs Gujarat Giants: Head-to-Head record in Pro Kabaddi
Matches: 15
Haryana Steelers: 10
Gujarat Giants: 4
Tie: 1
The rivalry between the sides has been dominated by the Haryana Steelers, with them securing 10 wins against Gujarat Giants’ four. And the trend may continue longer given the poor form of the Giants and Manpreet Singh’s side looking like the team to beat this season.
The two teams play each other back-to-back and the Steelers wouldn’t have asked for a better opponent than the Giants as they look to overcome the huge thumping they got against the defending champions and regain some momentum going forward.
