Haryana Steelers vs U Mumba: All time Head-to-Head record in Pro Kabaddi
The rivalry between both sides in Pro Kabaddi has seen some edge-of-the-seat battles.
Haryana Steelers take on U Mumba 128th match of Pro Kabaddi 2024 at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi, Pune on November 11 adding another chapter to the beaming competitive rivalry. Earlier in PKL 11, Haryana Steelers defeated U Mumba 48-39.
U Mumba and Haryana Steelers has took distinctly divergent routes through the Pro Kabaddi League. While U Mumba was one of the big-ticket teams right from the word go, Haryana entered the fray as an expansion team in 2017.
U Mumba had a great start in early Pro Kabaddi League seasons which they dominated with seeing them going three successive finals between 2014 and 2016. They won the trophy in 2015 after beating Bengaluru Bulls. The consistency was just too good to be true as well as finishing as runners-up both in 2014 and 2016 after losing it to Jaipur Pink Panthers and Patna Pirates respectively.

However, U Mumba’s fortunes changed after losing key players in mid-2016. They missed playoffs in consecutive seasons (2016 June and 2017) which was their first major downturn. Though they bounced back in 2018-19 with strong league performances but playoff success remained elusive.
Mumbai city franchise’s faltering performance has started to become more clear last Pro Kabaddi League season as the western side ended 10th in Season X (2023-24) with a mere six wins which was its worst result in PKL history. But they have shown signs of recovery in ongoing season and are sitting third with 24 points after some strong wins.
The other team Haryana Steelers have had a relatively shorter but much more eventful journey since making their debut in 2017. They made an immediate impact as they finished third in Zone A in their first season with 13 wins and 79 points.
But, the Steelers hit rock bottom in Season VII and ended last in Zone A with just six wins. But the North western side bounced back in 2019 by reaching the playoffs where it lost to U Mumba in the eliminator. The team’s first major outing was in Season X (2023-24), when they reached their first PKL finals under coach Manpreet Singh. Though they were eventual runners-up, this remains their best season performance ever far above all other previous performances.
The contrast between the two teams starkly falls between the old guard, where U Mumba boasts of early dominance with subsequent fails over time and the new school of thought where the Haryana Steelers are gradually building toward success slowly over time.
U Mumba record: 1 championship, 3 finals, and qualification to playoffs in almost all seasons over ten seasons. Haryana Steelers have one final and a spate of mid-table finishes over six seasons.
