PKL 11: Jaipur Pink Panthers retention list before auction

The two-time champion team has retained only five players for PKL 11.

The past two years have been a dream come true for supporters of the Jaipur Pink Panthers, who had a fantastic team that produces electrifying performances and players who play with perfection. In season 10, they even pulled off an amazing streak of 13 games without a loss. The inaugural champions will be a force to reckon with this season as well.

Jaipur has begun their chase for a third championship with retentions before PKL 11 auction. Without a doubt, they retained the services of Arjun Deshwal who continues to grow from strength. Sanjeev Kumar Baliyan’s specialty is identifying untapped talent. Having signed Arjun as a future start he also unearthed Ankush, who emerged as the best defender in his debut season.

Ankush broke the mark for the most tackles (89) by a debutant in a Pro Kabaddi League season 9. They stuck with their core in season 10, and these strategies enabled the Panthers to place in the top two at the end of the league stage for a second straight year. The men in pink would like to finish on a similar note in the upcoming season.

The season nine champions have also let go of some of the big names like their former captain Sunil Kumar and Sahul Kumar. While Arjun scored most of the raiding points, Ajit Kumar and Bhavani Rajput played crucial roles as secondary raiders. It will be interesting to see how Sanjeev Baliyan and Abhishek Bachchan will work out strategies to fill these gaps with the limited purse they have at their disposal.
