Kabaddi has been officially included in the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025.

The Asian Youth Games (AYG) is one of the biggest multi-sport events after the Asian Games, as far as continental multi-sport events are concerned. Just like the annulled 2017 AYG, the Olympic Council of Asia once again got a last-minute plight when Uzbekistan withdrew due to financial and logistical problems.

However, this time the Olympic Council of Asia found Bahrain as the last-minute substitution that has been proving themselves efficient in organizing big multi-sport events. Earlier this month, the OCA officially announced that after a long 12-year gap, the third Asian Youth Games (AYG) is all set to take place in Bahrain this October.

This is not the only good news for sports fans from the Olympic Council of Asia. Kabaddi fans have to celebrate as Kabaddi has been officially included in the 3rd Asian Youth Games 2025. Kabaddi has been a part of the Asian Games since 1982.

It started as an exhibition sport at first, but from the 1990 Asian Games, it became a medal sport. India has been the dominant nation since its inclusion. India men’s team has won 8 out of the 9 gold medals, whereas India women’s team has won 3 out of 4 gold medals.

Other teams like Iran and South Korea have recently strengthened their squads and are giving tough competition to the Indian team. As the grip of other countries on this game increases, it is gaining more recognition and it is making its mark on the world stage. With the inclusion of AYG 2025, it has taken another step towards its popularity across the world.

For now, Indian Kabaddi fans will be happy and looking forward to this big opportunity for the young Kabaddi sensations and Kabaddi as a game. India has always been promoting this spectacular sport. It recently reached Melbourne as an initiative by the Pro Kabaddi League, as an exhibition match was played between the Indian kabaddi legends.

The game has certainly begun to reach new heights on the world platform. It will be interesting to see when this intense sport will get included in the Olympics. How do you see the inclusion of kabaddi in the Asian Youth Games? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section.
