These thrillers took fans to the edge of their seats.
Season 6 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) saw Bengaluru Bulls being crowned champions for the first time. Many emerging stars like Siddharth Desai, Nitesh Kumar, Pawan Sehrawat and Surinder Singh turned up the heat during the tournament.
From an array of interesting matches to pick from, here's a list of the most thrilling encounters that went down to the wire in Season 6:
5. Haryana Steelers 40-40 Tamil Thalaivas
One of the most fascinating games of PKL season 6 was played between Monu Goyat's Haryana Steelers and Ajay Thakur's Tamil Thalaivas. Goyat and Thakur scored 16 points apiece for their respective teams in this high-voltage blockbuster.
Trailing by 4 points in the second half, Tamil Thalaivas came back with two fabulous Ajay Thakur Super Raids. But the final minute of the match saw a change of fortunes when Haryana Steelers scored three consecutive points and the match ended in a thrilling tie.
4. Gujarat Fortunegiants 38-36 U Mumba
It was a game of two halves where U Mumba dominated the proceedings early, courtesy of some brilliant defensive work by Rohit Rana and Fazel Atrachali. However, the tables turned in the 16th minute of the second half when Mahendra Rajput's five-point Super Raid changed the fate of the Giants and the game!
From 26-30, Gujarat Fortunegiants were suddenly leading 33-30 as the game progressed to the final three minutes. U Mumba hustled to bring the scoreline to 37-36 in their favour, but Ajay Kumar's buzzer raid saved the day for Gujarat Fortunegiants.
3. Jaipur Pink Panthers 35-35 U Mumba
An experienced Deepak Niwas Hooda and debutant Siddharth Desai battled it out in this exciting affair which ended in a tie.
Leading by seven points, Jaipur Pink Panthers had the game in their kitty with only four minutes on the clock. But what came next was complete mayhem as U Mumba stormed their way back riding on Siddharth Desai's Super 10.
With the onus on him, Deepak Hooda went in for the final raid of the match with U Mumba leading. His touchpoint tied the match for Jaipur Pink Panthers, but unfortunately, it couldn’t save them from crashing out of the playoff race of Pro Kabaddi League season 6.
2. Patna Pirates 43-41 U.P. Yoddha
PKL's two most prolific raiders, Rishank Devadiga and Pardeep Narwal went head-to-head in this encounter. Both the sides inflicted an all-out each in the first half, but it was U.P. Yoddha who had a 20-15 lead.
In a spirited comeback, Patna Pirates bounced back as Pardeep Narwal amassed 16 raid points. Having pulled off a sensational two-point raid to take the difference down to one point, Shrikant Jadhav failed in his final attempt, and Patna Pirates won this thrilling contest 43-41.
1. Patna Pirates 41-43 Bengaluru Bulls
This topsy-turvy encounter between two raiding juggernauts was tied at 36 apiece with only four minutes left on the clock. As Pawan Sehrawat shone for the Bengaluru Bulls, young Manjeet scored a Super 10 for Patna Pirates.
Two do-or-die raids in the final 30 seconds took this breathtaking contest right down to the wire.
After tackling Manjeet, Bengaluru Bulls brought the scoreline to 42-41. The Hi-Flyer then rose to the occasion and delivered when his side needed him the most in the final do-or-die raid of the match.
