Buoyed by the arrival of Sunil Kumar, U Mumba will be looking to improve their performances from last season.

In the upcoming edition of the prestigious Pro Kabaddi League, a lot of eyes will be on U Mumba and how they fare in the 11th season. The winners of Pro Kabaddi League season two have acquired key individuals who could bring the outfit much-needed success.

The outfit’s failure to secure playoff qualification in the last three campaigns of the Pro Kabaddi League weighs heavily on it. Gholamreza Mazandarani, the head coach, will be tasked with having the side challenging for the trophy or, at the very least, reaching the business end of the competition.

During the 2023-24 season of the Pro Kabaddi League, U Mumba managed only six wins from 22, finishing 10th in the points table with 45 points. The outfit has a strong defensive department but their raiding unit could be a weak link.

Looking at the squad of U Mumba ahead of the new season, here are the three players who could play key roles in the PKL 11:

Parvesh Bhainswal

Parvesh Bhainswal is an experienced figure who has played in the Pro Kabaddi League extensively since 2016. Despite missing out on action last season due to injury, his arrival into U Mumba’s fold is encouraging. The defender has scored 314 total points in 137 matches.

He usually plays in the left-cover position and likes to dominate raiders with his quick tackle execution. U Mumba has paid 19.50 lakh to secure Bhainswal’s services and will hope he delivers to goods in the 2024-25 campaign.

Sunil Kumar

Sunil Kumar is a brilliant addition to U Mumba’s roster. He brings experience, a winning mentality and reliability to the squad. The outfit paid a whopping 1.015 crore to secure his signature, making him the most expensive defender in the PKL.

Sunil Kumar has played 137 overall matches in the Pro Kabaddi League, scoring 345 points. He has made 22 Super Tackles, 20 High 5s, and 336 total tackle points. With his presence on the mat, scoring points against U Mumba would be a difficult task when the season begins.

Manjeet Dahiya

Manjeet Dahiya is also set to play a key role for U Mumba in the forthcoming 2024-25 Pro Kabaddi League. The raider has been a consistent performer, scoring 151, 167, 163, and 120 points in his last four seasons respectively.

While the defense is strong for U Mumba, the raiding department is rather thin and is heavily reliant on Manjeet Dahiya. The former Patna Pirates player would hope to receive good support from the likes of Amirmohammad Zafardanesh and Shivam. It is vital that Dahiya delivers points consistently for the outfit if they hope to secure playoff qualification or win the competition.
