They started off with a defeat against the defending Pro Kabaddi League champions Puneri Paltan before pulling off an upset against the Tamil Thalaivas with a win from behind. Dabang Delhi on the other hand have failed to capitalise on their good start to the Pro Kabaddi League campaign. The PKL 8 champions started off with a win over U Mumba and Telugu Titans along with a defeat to the UP Yoddhas in their opening three games. But, everything went out of the window with two back-to-back defeats against the Haryana Steelers and the Bengaluru Bulls respectively.

The upcoming matchup between the two Pro Kabaddi League sides will be the 22st meeting between the two sides. Patna Pirates have won 10, while Delhi have won nine and the remaining two games have ended in a draw. One of the 20 clashes between the two sides was the final of PKL 8 where Dabang Delhi sealed their first title by defeating Patna Pirates by a single point.

Dabang Delhi have the upper hand in the Pro Kabaddi League in recent years having won. The teams have come across each other on eight occasions in the post-COVID-19 era. Dabang Delhi have won five games while Patna Pirates have won just twice and one game has ended in a tie.
