Pawan Sehrawat was primed to be one of the hot picks at the PKL 11 auction.

Indian kabaddi team captain Pawan Sehrawat will return to Telugu Titans for season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League. The team from the south used the Final Bid Match option to snatch away the Hi-Flyer from U Mumba at Rs 172.50 lakhs in the PKL 11 auction.

Season two champions U Mumba waited for a long time to bring up the first bid at Rs 30 lakh. It was the invitation that Bengaluru Bulls was waiting for as coach Randhir Singh Sehrawat pushed it to Rs 70 lakhs.

Just when U Mumba tried to get in a fair deal with an increase to a crore, the season six champions breached the 100-lakh mark quickly. The most valuable player of season six has been in high demand in the last two auctions and it seemed the Indian captain is still the most wanted stock the teams wanted to invest in.

The battle between these two was fierce as the teams requested to reduce the increase of bids from Rs 1 cr to 50 lakhs. The bid went to 172.50 lakhs until the Bulls’ coach reluctantly gave away his pursuit to U Mumba. But the Titans with their FBM card retained him. The journey of the Delhi-born raider has been incredible and today’s auction adds yet another interesting chapter to it.

Pawan Sehrawat rose to fame thanks to his relationship with the coach of Bengaluru Bulls, Randhir Singh Sehrawat. The Bulls recruited him for season three of the Pro Kabaddi League and he accumulated 53 points in 13 games. In the next season, he hardly disturbed the scoring and was released by the men in red ahead of the league’s expansion.

The new season saw him switch to the Gujarat Fortune Giants. He was used as an impact raider and hardly featured in the starting seven. But it was the Bulls’ coach who reacquired him at Rs 52.8 lakhs. Pawan started with a bang, scoring 20 points against Tamil Thalaivas to help his team win the Derby. Throughout the season, he was spectacular with his jumps, earning the name of Hi-Flyer.

He guided Bengaluru to their first-ever PKL title also winning the Most Valuable Player award himself. He bettered his numbers in the next season with a staggering 360 points in 24 games, including a whopping 39 points in a single game against the Haryana Steelers, which is the most by a raider in a single game.

Taking over the reins of the captaincy of the Bulls, the Hi-Flyer helped them make it to the playoffs for the third consecutive season with 320 points. Pawan decided to explore a new challenge and came into the auction ahead of season nine.

Tamil Thalaivas picked him at Rs 2.26 cr, making him the most expensive player in the history. An injury in the first 10 minutes of the season meant that he was ruled out of the league.

It was history again in season 10 this time with Telugu Titans who spent more than 50% of their budget to get Pawan Sehrawat on board for Rs 2.6 cr. He was tasked to lead the side which was in the bottom of the table in the previous two seasons. Although he was the among the top 3 raiders of the season, he couldn’t change the fortunes of the team which lead to him being released by the Titans.
