PKL 11 Dream11 tips: 3 Gujarat Giants players you must have in your team for Pro Kabaddi 2024
This time the team has many quality raiders.
The PKL 11 is all up and running. Gujarat Giants finished as the runners-up of the Pro Kabaddi League in Season 5 (2017) and Season 6 (2018), their first two seasons. However, since then, their campaigns have seen inconsistent performances and they have played in the knock-out stages only twice.
They finished fourth last season in the league stage. Gujarat, having finished as the runners-up twice, will now hope that they overcome the curse of the second place and win the title this campaign.
They have formed a formidable squad in PKL 11 with star raiders like Guman Singh, Rakesh, and Parteek Dahiya, all three contributed more than 100 points last season through their raids. They also have the likes of Neeraj Kumar and Sombir as the guardians of their defence.
The all-rounder’s department is where the Giants may feel like they fall short of experience with Iran’s Mohammad Nabibaksh being the only player to have played consistently last year.
Given the number of raiding stars in their squad, the Adani Sports Line-owned franchise would still be a force to reckon with in PKL 11. We look at three players from their squad you must have in your Dream11 lineups.
Rakesh Sungroya (Raider)
Rakesh Sungroya has been with Gujarat Giants in all four seasons he has played in the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). The raider has managed to score over 100 points in each of the previous three seasons. The “Highly-skilled Rakesh”, as he is often referred to by his fans, has been Gujarat’s one of the three best players in the previous seasons. Last season, only Parteek Dahiya had more points than the player from Kaithal.
Rakesh is a do-or-die specialist, like his teammate Parteek Dahiya, and scored 31 points from his do-or-die raids last season, the joint 12th best of all the raiders. He also had six super-raids and five Super-10s. That’s why you must include him in your PKL 11 Dream11 team.
Guman Singh (Raider)
Guman Singh has played for three franchises already in the Pro Kabaddi League before joining Gujarat Giants in PKL 11. He started his career with Jaipur Pink Panthers before joining Patna Pirates. He spent a season each with the two teams before joining U Mumba and becoming their star raider for two seasons.
Guman finished the PKL 10 with 168 points, the joint 8th-highest of all the players while playing only 18 matches. He scored nine Super 10s and his numbers suggest that had he played all the matches, he could have crossed the 200 mark.
The former U Mumba raider will hope that PKL 11 is the season where he achieves the feat, with support coming from the two fellow raiders when is off the mat. He ranked sixth for average raid points last year, with more than 9 points from every game.
Neeraj Kumar (Defender)
Neeraj Kumar has joined the Adani Sports Line’s franchise from Patna Pirates and was straightaway given the leadership role. He will be the captain and their go-to main in crunch situations while defending. He has 12 super tackles in his career so far and nine Super 5s. He has amassed 185 tackle points from 485 tackle attempts in his career.
He has been trusted to take over from the departing experienced Iranian defender Fazel Atrachali. Coach Ram Mehar Singh has shown full trust in the defender to help his team win their first-ever Pro Kabaddi League title.
