Tamil Thalaivas are looking to claim a second victory over Telugu Titans in PKL 11.

After a slow start to the league, season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 11) seems to have reached its competitive peak with predictions going haywire with teams from the bottom of the points table beating the top-placed teams.

The franchises have started getting their combination right which is giving them the desired results as the league moves into the final week of the PKL 11 Hyderabad leg.

The home team Telugu Titans is a classic example of the same having registered just one win in the first four games in PKL 11, the decade franchise has come back strongly with two consecutive wins and is in the middle of the PKL 11 table with 16 points from six games. They will take on Tamil Thalaivas who gave their first defeat earlier this season.

It appeared as if it was a closely-fought contest but with Raiding duo of Sachin Tanwar and Narender Kandola were too good for the inconsistent Titans defense as the Thalaivas won the PKL 11 game convincingly. The Titans would want to change it and they have the best opportunity to do it as they have got the momentum with two wins from the last two games.

It won’t be easy for the Thalaivas who have lost their previous game and would want to play against the home team yet again to register a win in PKL 11. Few key personnel will be eager to win the battles between them to ensure their team wins the war. Here are the battles which could define the outcome of the game.

Sachin Tanwar vs Krishan Dhull

Two former teammates at Patna Pirates have separated ways and have found new homes with Sachin Tanwar setting well with Tamil Thalaivas and Krishan Dhull leading the Telugu Titans defence in PKL 11. They will be up against each other to win the bragging rights. Both know each other’s game inside out and would want to go one-up against his friend.

It was Sachin who won the battle earlier this season and scored a Super 10 in his debut match for Tamil Thalaivas. For Krishan, it was a forgettable day in PKL 11 as he couldn’t score a single point and was substituted by the coach. The left raider would vary be of Krishan and his eagerness to execute ankle holds. Sachin looked off-colour in his previous game and the 25-year-old would want to shrug it off with a Super 10.

Pawan Sehrawat vs Sahil Gulia

It is the battle of Skippers that will be the biggest talking point on a Wednesday night. Pawan has owned the team and has been pushing himself to get back to his point-scoring spree. But it won’t be easy against Sahil Gulia who is a rock at the left corner. The burly defender has stepped up in the absence of regular skipper Sagar Rathee and has contributed both as a skipper and a defender.

Sahil has pinned down the opposition Raiders more often than not and has got crucial points with Super tackles. If he continues the form against Pawan Sehrawat, then Thalaivas will return home with five points. It is easier said than done against the Indian skipper, who seemed to have got his mojo back. In the game earlier this season, Sahil had a 100% tackle strike rate which proved decisive in the end.

Ajit Pawar vs Narender Kandola

Narender Kandola has been the flagbearer of Tamil Thalaivas in the last three seasons and reached a new milestone of 500 Raid points in his previous game. The right raider has been in fine form and it all started with a Super 10 against the Telugu Titans. He had a special liking for the left cover Ajit Pawar, plotting his downfall.

But Kabaddi is a game where the fortune could change in the span of seconds and Ajit Pawar has an opportunity to get the better of Narender. Ajit will be high on confidence with his High-5 against Bengaluru Bulls where he tackled the likes of Ajinkya Pawar and Jai Bhagwan who are similar in stature to Narender. The cover defender will look to repeat it to give five points and joy for the Home team fans.
