PKL 11: Key battles to watch out for in match 42, Dabang Delhi vs Tamil Thalaivas
Tamil Thalaivas are coming into this match after two consecutive defeats.
The 2024 edition of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL 11) is into its final week of the Hyderabad leg with teams finding their way to pick the best starting seven for the season. Two teams whose journey has been largely marred by injuries are Tamil Thalaivas and Dabang Delhi.
Both teams have lost their captains to injury, with Sagar Rathee not playing a part for Thalaivas after their first game of the season. For Delhi, Naveen Kumar’s injury in the game against Haryana Steelers was a big blow, as his absence resulted in the team suffering four consecutive defeats.
With a rich history between two teams producing some of the most thrilling contests in the history of the league, they would be hoping to get the better of one another which would be a huge boost for the confidence of the players. Talking about confidence, a player’s conviction would be high if he could outsmart his counterpart.

Let’s look into three such battles that could decide the fate of the contest.
Sahil Gulia vs Ashu Malik
Last night, we saw a similar contest, with Ashu Malik going toe-to-toe against Fazel Atrachali in the left corner. It was a blockbuster of a contest which included a hard face first. The Iranian countered Ashu with a back hold and he had to put a tight plaster to hold his jaw. He immediately countered the Delhi Raider with a quality thigh hold.
Sahil Gulia will look to repeat the same against Ashu, who has scored the most points in the last two seasons. Tamil Thalaivas badly wants his stand-up skipper to produce a match-winning performance as their defense has been abysmal in the last two games. Ashu would be eager to prove him wrong and leave Hyderabad with five points.
Sachin Tanwar vs Yogesh Dahiya
Sachin Tanwar finally shrugged off the dust to unleash the beast in them as he scored 17 of the total 34 points scored by Thalaivas in their previous game. The team from Tamil Nadu was happy to see a free-flowing Sachin who kept the energy level on high throughout the game. Although they didn’t get the result, the form of the left raider is a happy sign for the team.
He will have another tough challenge on the night as he will be up against Yogesh Dahiya, who made it to the top three of the defenders’ list last season despite it being his debut season. He is proving that he is not a one-season wonder, as he is leading the defense for the season eight champions. This battle will go a long way in deciding the winner of the contest.
Narender Kandola vs Ashish Malik
No one loves playing against Dabang Delhi more than Narender Kandola. The Dubki Prince seems to get an extra zeal and she produces his best game against the men in red and blue. To put it into the number perspective, in the four games he has played against them he has scored a whopping 64 points with an average of 16 points per game.
The youngster will look to repeat it for his franchise who have lost opportunities to win games on the last two occasions. Dabang Delhi have a weakness in their defense and the focal point has been the left corner. Multiple players have occupied that spot with Ashish contributing to the win last night. He will look to carry on the momentum against Narender to make it two wins in two games.
