PKL 11: Key battles to watch out for in match 60, Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Puneri Paltan

The defence of Puneri Paltan will have a big challenge to stop in-form Arjun Deshwal.

Two-time champions Jaipur Pink Panthers will face defending champions Puneri Paltan in match 60 of Pro Kabaddi League 2024 (PKL 11) at the Noida Indoor Stadium

Jaipur Pink Panthers have found their rhythm and have looked phenomenal in their last two outings. Their defenders were never under question, and now, their raiders have made their mark as well. Deshwal gets decent support from raiders such as Neeraj Narwal, Shrikant Jadhav and Abhijeet Malik, which has made a massive difference in their results.

On the other hand, Puneri Paltan have had back-to-back close matches. In one of them, they lost by a difference of one point, whereas the second one ended up as a tie. The close differences suggest that they haven’t played badly in those matches, they were just two of those days. However, they do have a question before them, “Who will take responsibility to be the main raider?” If they do not find one, they might get stuck when a big challenge comes their way.

Both teams have a strong defence line-up. Paltan have Gaurav Khatri, Aman, and Abinesh Nadarajan as their strong defenders. On the other hand, Jaipur Pink Panthers are packed with spectacular defenders like Surjeet Singh, Reza Mirbagheri, Ankush Rathee and Lucky Sharma. It will be interesting to see how these defence-heavy line-ups turn out tomorrow.

Arjun Deshwal vs Gaurav Khatri

Arjun Deshwal is undoubtedly one of the biggest raiders in the current PKL scenario. He is the third top raid point scorer this season as of now with more than 100 points to his name. He could become the biggest threat to Puneri Paltan and they will plan accordingly.

Deshwal’s rhythm has to be broken if the Paltan needs to win. Its responsibility will be in the strong hands of Gaurav Khatri. Khatri has played phenomenally this season. He has scored nearly 40 tackle points this season and has been one of the consistent performers. If he can keep Deshwal off-court, he will be doing a big service for his team. This will be probably the biggest battle of the night.

Akash Shinde vs Reza Mirbagheri

This is going to be the battle of the young raider against an experienced defender. Shinde has shown some promising performances in the last few matches he has been given the opportunity in. He scored an important Super-10 against the Gujarat Giants and has contributed with a couple of 8-point scores as well. From the current lot of raiders from the Paltan, he is the one who is looking the most in-rhythm raider.

However, it won’t be easy against the legendary defence of the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Especially when Reza Mirbagheri is in spectacular form. Mirbagheri has 28 tackle points this season and has been tremendously consistent as a defender. It will be difficult for Shinde and any other raider from the Paltan to get through this defence. Although if they did, they have a strong contention to the match.

Neeraj Narwal vs Aman

Neeraj Narwal has come out as a big contributor to the Pink Panthers. Although it may not have a huge impact on their scores, their presence and their contributions during Arjun Deshwal’s absence and sometimes even in the defence make him an impact player for his team. If he can continue his secondary contribution in this upcoming match as well and revive Arjun Deshwal frequently, that can be a game-changer.

The biggest challenge against Narwal will be Paltan’s defence. Similar to the Panthers, Paltan also have a strong defence line-up. After Khatri, Aman is another defender who has performed consistently and will be once again in focus, as he will have a big responsibility on his shoulders. If Aman-Khatri’s duo can work in sync and get Narwal and Deshwal frequently, it can make a massive difference in the match.
