PKL 11: Key player battles to watch out for in match 81, UP Yoddhas vs Jaipur Pink Panthers

Earlier Jaipur Pink Panthers had defeated UP Yoddhas in PKL 11.

UP Yoddhas would look for revenge in Pro Kabaddi 2024 (PKL 11) when they take on two-time champions Jaipur Pink Panthers in the 81st match at the Noida Indoor Stadium.

UP Yoddhas have suffered inconsistency throughout the season. They currently sit in eighth place in the PKL 11 table with six wins, six losses and a draw from 13 matches. They are coming into this match following a 40-26 loss against Tamil Thalaivas and will look to bounce back to winning ways.

On the other hand, Jaipur Pink Panthers have blown hot and cold this season, and their results have been highly dependent on captain Arjun Deshwal’s performance. They are sitting one spot above the Yoddhas and will look to break into the top 3 with a win in the coming match.

On that note, let’s look at the three key battles that will decide the outcome of the match between UP Yoddhas vs Jaipur Pink Panthers.

Arjun Deshwal vs Sumit Sangwan

This is perhaps the most important duel of the match, the duel that alone could decide the fate of the match on Thursday. Arjun Deshwal is one of the three best raiders in the league and he has been that for many seasons consistently. Jaipur is highly dependent on the raider to score points through raids.

Sumit Sangwan is the most attacking defender for the Yoddhas, his skill and defensive tactics will be key in being able to stop Arjun Deshwal.

Bharat Hooda vs Ankush Rathee

Bharat Hooda will be coming into the game after a poor run of five games where he has failed to score even one Super 10. If Bharat fails to get going, things look tougher than usual for the Yoddhas. If Jasveer Singh’s men are to win the game, they would hope that their star raider stays on the mat for as long as possible, while collecting points consistently.

Ankush Rathee was the player of the season for Panthers in season 9 when they won the title. Although short in stature, the pocket dynamite as he is often referred to, will be the defender tasked with stopping the juggernaut of the UP raiders, especially Bharat Hooda.

Bhavani Rajpoot vs Reza Mirbagheri

Out of the five latest matches played by UP Yoddhas, Bhavani Rajput had performed well in all the matches except the match against Tamil Thalaivas. He scored four consecutive Super 10s, helping the Jasveer Singh-led side not feel the heat in the absence of the best version of Bharat Hooda.

Reza Mirbagheri with 30 tackle points this season has proven to be a vital cog in the defence of the Jaipur Pink Panthers. He scored four tackle points in the win against Puneri Paltan.
